Mrs. Germaine “Pete” Hambrick Levisay, age 90, of West Locust Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019, at The Woodlands Health and Rehab, in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
Pete was born on September 30, 1929 in Covington. She was the youngest of seven children born to Robert Calvin and Rebecca Kelley Hambrick.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Samuel Harlow (Sam) Levisay, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Ruth “Tiny” Persinger Levisay.
Survivors include daughters, Becky Woodyard and husband Chip of Eagle Rock, and Lisa Dickson and husband Greg of Covington; beloved grandson Eric Rothwell and wife Deena Stinespring Rothwell of Troutville, ; great-grandsons, Riley Rothwell and Aidan Rothwell, of Troutville.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Randy Gilbert and wife Carol of Covington and his family, Kathy Gilbert Byer (Wallace), Amy Gilbert Byer (Bruce), Andrea Byer, Jacob Byer, Kerry Ann Byer, Emily Byer, Kenlynn Bradshaw, Toryn Brown, Caitlin Byer, Anna Byer, and Randall “Bub” Byer.
She was preceded in death by brothers Paul Hambric, Harry Hambric, and Bill Hambrick, Jr. and sisters Ethel Hambrick, Helen Hambrick, and Lola Hambrick Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Homewith Pastor John Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Riley Rothwell, Aidan Rothwell, Jacob Byer, Wallace Byer, Stephen “Dinky” Bogar, Todd Loving, Jimmy Loving and Skipper Reyns.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Organ Restoration Fund, 900 N. Alleghany Ave, Covington, VA 24426 or to American Macular Degeneration Foundation P. O. Box 515, North Hampton, MA 21061 or Arthritis Foundation, Virginia Chapter, 3805 Cutshaw Ave Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23230
