The Council for the City of Covington will hold a regular meeting on TUESDAY, APRIL 08, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall located at 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia.

4. Called Joint Meeting with the School Board March 18, 2025

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
1. To Consider Ordinance 0-25-02: Tax Exemption for Widows of Fallen First Responders.
2. To Consider Resolution R-25-09: Waste Water Disposal – Thompson & Litton Final Payment for EQ Basin Project.
3. To Consider Resolution R-25-10: Donation to the Alleghany Humane Society
4. To Consider Resolution R-25-11: Covington Parks and Rec Youth Day – Similar to Bike Rodeo
5. To Consider Resolution R-25-12: 2025 Personal Property Tax Relief Allocation
6. To Consider Resolution R-25-13: Opioid Abatement Authority

APPOINTMENTS

1. Appoint a representative for the Industrial Development Authority (IDA). (The city checked with the IDA about appointment requirements after the Council meeting on March 11, 2025. The IDA advised that a Council Member cannot serve on the IDA. A citizen must fill out the assignment.)
a. To consider Lee Roe for placement upon the IDA
b. To consider Julie Stanley for placement upon the IDA

2. Appoint a representative to the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation (AHEDC).
(Expired on 03-10-2025, due to representative Xavier Storey’s relocation outside the Alleghany Highlands.)
a. To consider Lee Roe for placement upon the AHEDC.
b. To consider Julie Stanley for placement upon the AHEDC.

3. Appoint two Planning Commission Representatives:
a. To consider John Crowder for placement upon the Planning Commission.
b. To consider Gene Mundy for placement upon the Planning Commission.
4. Appoint a representative for the Housing Authority: Richard “Bert” Baker’s term expired on March 31, 2025.
