Approval of Minutes
Minutes Council Meeting March 11, 2025
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes for March 11, 2025.
ACTION ITEMS
1) Department Reports
Code Enforcement-No information available as Mr. Balser was in class most of the month
Police Department
Public Works
Library
Water Plant
Fire Department

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the reports as submitted and written.

2) To consider a request from William Nicely to close Church Street between the School of the Arts and the Masonic Theatre for the 5th Annual Fishing with Angels event

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the request.

3) To consider a request from the Eastern Alleghany Ministerial Association to block streets for The Way of the Cross on April 18, 2025, from 11:15 a.m. until 12 noon. The walk will start at First Baptist Church on Church Street, turn left onto B Street, onto Main Street, making a right on Main Street and ending at Central United Methodist Church.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the request.

PROCLAMATIONS

4) To consider a proclamation recognizing the Clifton Forge Lions Club on their 90th anniversary

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the proclamation.

5) To consider a proclamation recognizing April 6th through April 12th , 2025, as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the proclamation

6) Presentation and information about the Clifton Forge Branding effort and how it can positively promote the town.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the pursuit of a town brand to be approved by Council) and support the effort to fund the branding effort in the amount of $20,000.00, potentially to funded by a grant with an application due date of the end of the month.

7) To consider declaring two John Deer mowers, two Exmark mowers, and a Cub Cadet mower as surplus property

RECOMMENDATION: Approve declaring the mowers as surplus property.

APPOINTMENTS

To consider the reappointment of Pamela Irvine to the Planning Commission. Her term expired on March 31, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the reappointment.

 To consider the reappointment of Joan Vannorsdall to the CEDS committee. Her term expires April 12, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the reappointment.

 To consider the reappointment of Amy Dew to the Architectural Review Board. Her term expires April 30, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the reappointment.

 To appoint an individual to the Chamber of Commerce Board. Carl “Shorty” Wolfe has requested to be removed from the Board.

RECOMMENDATION: Appoint a Council member to replace Carl “Shorty” Wolfe.
