Harry Joseph Newman

Harry Joseph Newman, age 78, of 400 Winding Way, Covington, Virginia went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Harry was born on October 19, 1946, in Miami, Florida to the late Harry Arky Newman and Marie Dawson Newman. He was a graduate of the University of Florida and worked as a self-employed certified public accountant for 41 years.  He loved the Bible, teaching Sunday school, leading others to Christ, and was a devoted Miami Dolphins fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lacks Newman, and his stepfather, Chin Shew Get.

Harry is survived by his children, Michele Newman Sizemore (husband, Todd) of Covington and Michael J. Newman (wife, Melissa) of Roanoke; nineteen grandchildren, Kaitlyn Reese (husband, Blake), Kristen Ramsey (husband, Evan), Madison (fiancé, Cimmaron Nicely), Jacob Sizemore (wife, Devi), as well as Luke, Sam, Alexandra, Ethan, Joshua, Noah, Emily, Caleb, Andrew, Olivia, Victoria, and Natalie Sizemore, and Alex, Hayle, and Michael Newman; two great grandchildren, Genevieve and Eugene Reese; a niece, Amy Ruble Dobbs; and a nephew, Chad Ruble.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
