CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — A former member and chairman of the Bath County Board of Supervisors has died.
Harper Ray Wagner, Sr., 80, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Millboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Tennova Health Care in Clarksville, Tenn., with family by his side.
He was born April 27, 1939, in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Forrest Ray Wagner and Virginia Mabel McLaughlin Wagner.
He was the retired storekeeper of Wagner’s Citgo in Millboro Springs.
Mr. Wagner retired from the United States Air Force as a master sergeant with 23 years of service.
He served on the Bath County Board of Supervisors from Jan. 1, 1984, to Dec. 31, 1995. He was chairman of the board in 1988 and 1995.
Mr. Wagner was a member of the Millboro Masonic Lodge #28 and the Windy Cove Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two children, Harper Wagner, Jr. and wife Dunja of San Francisco and Tiphoney Wagner of Clarksville, Tenn., and three grandchildren, Taylor Wagner, Megan Brooks and Logan Brooks.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Windy Cove Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Puffenbarger officiating. Following the service, the family welcomes friends to help them celebrate Harper’s life starting at 5:00 p.m. at Cucci’s at the Varsity in Hot Springs.
