WARM SPRINGS — The Bath Branch of the Rockbridge Regional Library hosts the Winter Salon Series for the next four weeks.
Salons, in 19th Century France, were historically informal gatherings for education and conversation.
The library in Warm Springs offers them following a tradition started over 10 years ago by residents who recognized the need to make our Februaries a little brighter.
The first Salon was Tuesday in the Craven Room and featured Joe Murray, an arborist, horticulturist, and emerging hemp cultivator.
The next week on Thursday, Feb. 13, Pari Baker, also at 6:00, will talk and lead discussion. Pari is a behavioral health therapist at Bath Community Hospital. The title of her presentation is: “I Don’t Want to Die (but I don’t know how to live this way anymore)”.
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Fran Hobbs, Millboro Springs resident and owner/operator of Peaceful River Campground will talk about her travels with mission work in China.
Fran, who is a member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church, has traveled with the China Bible Mission Team since 2010.
The team she travels with crosses the border from Hong into China where Bibles are delivered to a Safe House, and then sent out to Christian contacts throughout China. Another team will be going in the first week of May.
Danny Cardwell is the final speaker in this year’s Winter Salons, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.
