Last week was an exciting time in Congress as President Trump delivered a bold Joint Address to Congress, showcasing his vision for restoring American strength, securing the border, and prioritizing hardworking families. Meanwhile, House Republicans are holding lawmakers accountable for inappropriate behavior by holding Rep. Al Green in contempt for disrupting the President’s address. President Trump’s actions on border security have already resulted in a significant drop in illegal crossings, and his leadership is bringing jobs and industry back to America, with historic investments and job creation already underway. We also celebrated Read Across America Week, a time to recognize the importance of reading and its lasting impact on future generations. As always, it was a pleasure meeting with folks from the Sixth District who were on the Hill and home in the Valley. Rest assured, I will continue fighting for real reform to Washington’s dysfunctional bureaucracy on behalf of the people of Virginia’s Sixth District.

President Trump is Delivering Results for the American People

Last week, President Trump delivered a bold and optimistic Joint Address to Congress, laying out a clear vision to restore American strength, secure our border, and put hardworking families first. In just over a month, he has already signed nearly 100 executive orders and taken over 400 executive actions to undo the failures of the past and get our country back on track.

His speech wasn’t just about policy. It was about the American people who make this nation great. President Trump honored DJ, a young cancer survivor who was made an honorary Secret Service agent; the mothers of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, whose daughters were tragically killed by illegal immigrants; and Peyton McNabb, a female athlete injured after competing against a biological male. He also celebrated high school senior Jason Hartley’s acceptance into West Point, fulfilling his dream of serving our country. These individuals represent the resilience, strength, and determination that define America.

President Trump is already delivering on his promises and is rolling back Biden’s crushing regulations, unleashing American energy, cutting wasteful spending, and restoring fairness in women’s sports by reinstating policies that protect female athletes. House Republicans are proud to stand with President Trump to enact the America First agenda, secure our country, and deliver real results for the American people.

Restoring Decorum in the People’s House

President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress was an opportunity to lay out his bold vision for the future of our nation, not a venue for political stunts. Unfortunately, Democrat Rep. Al Green chose to disregard the rules of decorum, disrespecting the institution, the President, and the American people by refusing to stop his tirade in the middle of the President’s remarks. House Republicans, therefore, held him accountable and censured him for his unacceptable behavior.

The People’s House must be a place of serious debate and responsible leadership, not chaos and grandstanding. The American people sent us here to work for them, which means conducting ourselves with respect, civility, and a focus on the issues that truly matter. Congress must be focused on securing our border, cutting wasteful spending, and standing up for hardworking families.

While 198 Democrats refused to condemn this behavior, House Republicans were joined by ten Democrats who share our commitment to restoring order, enforcing accountability, and delivering results for the American people. Congress must do better, and Republicans will continue leading the way.

Border Security is Back Under President Trump

In just over a month, President Trump has turned the tide on illegal immigration and restored order at the southern border. His administration has taken decisive action to enforce the law, secure our communities, and put Americans first, and the results speak for themselves:

  • Illegal border crossings have plummeted to record lows, with apprehensions down 94% from last year. Migrant shelters in Mexico are shutting down as would-be illegal immigrants turn back before even reaching the U.S.
  • ICE enforcement is back. More than 20,000 illegal immigrants were arrested in a single month—a 627% increase in monthly arrests compared to Biden and almost as much as the entirety of illegal alien arrests for Biden’s entire last year. These arrests include drug cartel bosses, convicted child rapists, and violent criminals.
  • The border wall is being built again. Construction has resumed in California and Texas, adding to the 400+ miles already completed under President Trump.
  • Catch and release is over. Illegal migrants will no longer be released into the U.S. while awaiting deportation, stopping tragedies like the murder of Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant released under Biden’s watch.
  • Cartels are facing real consequences. President Trump secured the extradition of 29 Mexican cartel leaders, including one accused of killing a DEA agent.
  • America is leading again. Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela have reversed course and are now accepting deportation flights after President Trump held them accountable with new tariffs.

House Republicans are proud to stand with President Trump to secure the border, protect American families, and restore the rule of law.

President Trump is Bringing Jobs and Industry Back to America

President Trump is standing up for American workers, rebuilding our industries, and ensuring the U.S. is no longer ripped off by foreign competitors. His leadership is already delivering real results, bringing back jobs, securing historic investments, and putting America First.

  • Manufacturing is back. In just one month under President Trump, America gained 10,000 manufacturing jobs.
  • Steel and aluminum are protected. President Trump restored 25 percent tariffs on imports to stop unfair foreign competition. Industry leaders and manufacturers praised the move, recognizing it as a win for American jobs and production.
  • Jobs are returning home. Companies are moving production to the U.S. instead of paying tariffs. Stellantis is reopening its Illinois plant, putting 1,500 Americans back to work, and Honda will build its next-generation Civic Hybrid in Indiana. Nissan and other automakers are also looking to shift production from Mexico back to the U.S.
  • Historic investments are pouring in. President Trump has secured nearly $2 trillion in new investments to strengthen our economy and create jobs, including TSMC’s $100 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, Apple’s $500 billion investment to expand operations and create 20,000 new jobs, and Saudi Arabia pledging $600 billion in U.S. investments over the next four years.

President Trump is putting American workers first, revitalizing U.S. manufacturing, and making sure our industries are no longer undercut by foreign competitors. House Republicans are proud to stand with him as he fights for American jobs, American businesses, and economic prosperity.

Celebrating Read Across America Week

Last week, we celebrated Read Across America Week, a time to recognize the power of books and the opportunities reading provides. Whether it’s discovering new ideas, learning from our Nation’s history, or inspiring the next generation, reading is essential to lifelong learning. I encourage everyone to pick up a good book and take part in celebrating the joys of reading and its lasting impact on all Americans.
