HOT SPRINGS — Beth Neff, 2019 Bath County Christmas Mother, has announced that the Christmas Mother shop opened Monday, Dec. 2, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hot Springs.
This is the 27th year of the Christmas Mother program in Bath County.
The application process is now over and the time to work has begun.
“The shop is truly a Santa’s workshop,” said Neff. “Wrapping paper, boxes, toys and clothes all around.  Lots of smiles, laughter and fun as everyone works to make Christmas happen for so many.”
“If you have some wrapping paper, gift bags, gift tags or boxes that you do not need and would like to donate them please bring them by the shop,” she added.  “We will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday until Dec. 16. We are also in need of people who would like to go and shop for us and also wrappers. Please come by the shop and see what we are doing. We would love to see you there.”
The Christmas Mother is looking for some unusual items to be donated.  We are seeking donations or new or gently used items of the following:
• Used Riding Lawn Mower;

• Infrared Space Heater;

• Two couches;

• Two extra large dog kennels;

• Two high chairs;

• Kerosene heater;

• Weight bench;

• Baby crib;

• Three electric heaters;

• Small chain saw or ax;

• Used battery-operated car for special-needs six-year-old girl.
The program still has individuals and families awaiting to be adopted.    Those wishing to adopt should contact  Neff at (540) 839-5059 or by e-mail at christmasmother19@gmail. com.
Monetary donations are essential to help the program purchase gifts and food.  And, in January, if funds are available, to give fuel assistance.
Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to the Bath County Christmas Mother, P.O. Box 292, Hot Springs, Va.  24445.
“I want to thank all those who have already given and those who are going to give,”?said Neff. “You may never really know what a difference you have made in a person’s life by your generosity. But, good deeds never go unrewarded in one way or the other. This program wouldn’t be able to function without you.”
