Selma Volunteer Firefighters Hold Banquet, Present Awards

The Selma Volunteer Fire Company held their annual banquet and installation of officers for  2020 on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The installing officiant was Richard Shull. Shull is a member of the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors and an honorary member of the fire company. 
Firefighting and EMS officers for 2020 are Chris Spinks, chief; John Kern, assistant chief; Chris Fitch, captain and training officer; Jonathan Fitch, captain;  Joey Morris, first lieutenant; Ben Tucker, second lieutenant; Matt Seldomridge, third lieutenant; Raymond Broughman, quartermaster; Lee Cahoon, athletic director; Britt Mays, EMS captain; Jerry Whitehead, EMS first lieutenant; and Tereva Blake, EMS second lieutenant.
Corporation officers for 202 include Chris Wiley,  president; Joey Morris, vice president and chaplain;  Brittany Seldomridge, treasurer; Lee Cahoon, Roger Hayslett and Doug Morris, trustees.
Firefighter of the Year was presented to Chris Spinks, while the EMS Member of the Year award went to Tereva Blake.
During 2019, the Selma Volunteer Fire Company answered 220 fire-related calls and 240 EMS calls.
