BARC Electric Lowering Rates By 7 Percent

MILLBORO? — BARC Electric Cooperative will be lowering its rates by about 7 percent in 2020.
The decrease took effect Jan. 1. 
The adjustment reflects decreases in the cost of purchased power, known as   “electric supply services.”
The average residential customer consuming 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month should see about a $7 per month reduction in their bill. 
“Costs tend to rise over time, and it is not often that a company, especially a utility, lowers the cost of their product. We are fortunate to be in a position to pass along a cost reduction to our members, especially one as substantial as this,” said Mike Keyser, BARC’s chief executive officer.
“We are conscious that some of our members struggle to pay their bills in the winter months. Hopefully this rate decrease will help ease that burden,” he said.
BARC Electric Cooperative is a customer-owned electric cooperative serving 13,000 residents, farms and businesses across five counties in Virginia, including Bath County, Alleghany County and Rockbridge County.
