Alleghany Highlands Community Services will host the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) program on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Alleghany Highlands Community Services Lifeskills Building at 550 Pine Street, in Clifton Forge.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) is the term used to describe all types of abuse, neglect and other potentially traumatic experiences that occur to people under the age of 18.
Adverse Childhood Experiences have been linked to risky health behaviors, chronic health conditions, low life potential and early death. As the number of ACEs increases, so does the risk for these outcomes.
This is a three-hour training that will go over how trauma affects the brain, what the ACE Study is and how to build resiliency.
There will also be time to play the brain architecture game where participants will be able to see how life stressors and maltreatment can impact how a brain is built.

The event is free and open to public.
