Roger Lee Walton, 62, of 825 Rose Ave, Clifton Forge, died Friday January, 24, 2020 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born in Clifton Forge on May 31, 1957, a son of the late Herbert Berlin Sams, Sr. and Lottie Emma Walton Sams.
He was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School, a retired Foreman with Bolivia Lumber Company in Clifton Forge, and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Roger was a devoted UVA Cavaliers Fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an aunt, Lois VanBuren; two aunts and uncles, Linda Lee and Grover Cauley, and Ruby and Leonard A Walton, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Walton, of Clifton Forge; a son Matthew Walton and his fiancée Molly, of Clifton Forge; two step-sons, Anthony Wright and his wife Crystal, of Selma, Brian Wright and his wife Sabrina, of Troutville; two brothers, Herbie and David Wayne Sams, both of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Tony, Sierra, Cameron, Brianna, Alex, and Brennan Wright; a special cousin Michelle Warren and husband Homer; special friends, Rose Mary Tucker and Josh Floyd; and his beloved dogs, Missy, Harley and BearBear.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher and Mr. Robert Tucker officiating.
Active pallbearers will be, Anthony Wright, Brian Wright, Nathan Hall, Daniel Smith, Billy Angle and Timmy Downey.
Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor. His family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Nicely Funeral Home.
