NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International honored The Omni Homestead Resort’s podcast, “Beyond the Tower,” with a Silver Adrian Award for digital marketing excellence for its winning entry in the 63rd annual Adrian Awards, the largest and most prestigious global travel marketing competition.
The podcast was recognized in the digital marketing, multimedia series category which showcases two or more marketing initiatives built around a theme or event in one medium.
“Beyond the Tower” was launched in January 2019 and offers an insider’s look at the iconic resort and surrounding area.
To date, 21 episodes have been released, spanning topics from the history of the resort and golf to the Garth Newel Music Center and the resort’s partnership with a local farmer. The debut episode features an interview with Brett Schoenfield, the resort’s managing director.
Season Two began with Peter Strebel, president of Omni Hotels and Resorts, sharing insights into the brand’s signature program, Say Goodnight to Hunger. Each episode begins and ends with Welcome to My Homestead, an original composition from David Hill, one of the resort’s most popular musicians.
“We created ‘Beyond the Tower’ as a way to introduce guests to the resort before they even arrive on property,” said Lynn Swann, director of marketing and communications and executive producer of the podcast. “We have many longtime associates and they have incredible stories to share so whether it’s your first visit or your 50th, you’re sure to hear something new.”
The host of “Beyond the Tower” is Jessi Bruton, creative director for Omni Hotels and Resorts. She also designed the podcast’s cover art. John Kendall Royston, a music/audio producer, songwriter, performer, and artist consultant in Richmond, produces the series.
“Beyond the Tower” is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora and other podcast apps as well as the resort’s website at www.theomnihomestead.com/podcast.
“The Adrian Awards honor innovative travel marketing campaigns that lead the future of hospitality marketing, setting the standard for creativity and flawless execution,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “HSMAI is proud to recognize these award winners and celebrate their remarkable campaigns and the people behind them at the Adrian Awards Gala.”
The Omni Homestead Resort was honored during the HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala on Jan. 21,  at the New York Marriott Marquis. Attended by nearly 1,000 hospitality, travel, and tourism marketing executives, this elegant affair is a must-attend industry event.
The Adrian Awards Dinner Reception and Gala, recognized as a Top 100 Event in New York City by BizBash, annually celebrates award-winning work and the people behind it, lifetime achievement, and the HSMAI Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Optimization.
Winning entries are viewable in the winners’ gallery on the Adrian Awards website. Visit www.AdrianAwards.com for more information on the event and competition and to view the Adrian Awards Winners’ Gallery.
