Fred Canham

Frederick McKinsey Canham, age 72, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Veterans Administration Cochran Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Fred was born September 18, 1947, in South Charleston, West Virginia, the second son of the late Walter G. Canham, Jr., and Gonia Elizabeth (Betsy) McKinsey Canham.
Fred was a precocious youngster, excelling in drama (selected “Most Dramatic” in his senior year) and music at Brentwood High School, Brentwood, Missouri, and winning several academic  honors, including National Merit Scholar Semifinalist and Missouri Curators Award. He had a brilliant mind and a dry sense of humor.  He studied biology at the University of Missouri, and worked as a lab technician.  He played several instruments, including piano, guitar, banjo, bass fiddle, and harmonica—and had a voice like an angel. 
He is survived by his brother, Robert B. Canham (Jane); three sisters, Carol Almarez (Chuck), Alice Canham Childs (David), and Lyn Canham Roemer (Tim); four nephews (Rob, Brian, John, and Casey);one niece (Carly); three great-nephews (Holden, Hunter, and Aiden) and one great-niece (Hana).
Fred was a giving person.  He served his country in the Army in the Vietnam War, was an Eagle Scout, liked to cook for himself and others, wrote poetry and songs, and loved the Lord.  He has willed his body to science.
 There will be a Family Remembrance gathering at a date to be determined.
