CLIFTON FORGE — On Thursday, the Clifton Forge Public Library will host a public presentation titled “Pioneer Gear.” It will be held in the library’s Michael Armstrong Community Room beginning at 6 p.m.
The program will focus on the early pioneer history of the Allegheny Highlands region and the outfits of everyday pioneers. This talk and demonstration will be presented by local re-enactors Michael Hayslett of Clifton Forge and Ron Thomas of Falling Springs.
Hayslett will begin the presentation with an introductory slide show on the early history of European pioneers and frontier forts of the region.
Following will be a demonstration of frontier dress and equipment by Hayslett and Thomas.
They will be in costume and display numerous articles of reproduction equipment that is representative of pioneer life and that is used by colonial re-enactors.
Following the program, light refreshments will be provided.
