Jerry Lewis Lindsay, 72, husband of Sharon (Duncan) Lindsay of Warm Springs, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home.
He was born on May 2, 1947, in Hot Springs, a son of the late James Wayne and Margaret (Carpenter) Lindsay.
Jerry was a member of Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church. At the age of seven, Jerry started working at Criser’s Used Cars in Mitchelltown where he washed cars and windows. He later spent 20-plus years working as a groundskeeper at The Homestead where he ended his working career.
In his younger years Mr. Lindsay enjoyed hunting and fishing but could be most often found at home, sitting on his front porch watching the world go round. Above all, Jerry’s greatest joy was being Paw-Paw and attending sporting events his grandsons participated in.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, surviving family members include his son, Steaven DeWayne Lindsay of Hot Springs; daughter, Cheryl Lindsay Milton and husband, Dan of Covington; two special grandsons, Ben and Zach Milton of Covington; two brothers David Lindsay and wife, Nettie of Hot Springs, George Lindsay and wife Gloria of Hot Springs; three sisters, Jeanette Plecker and husband, Buzz of Millboro, Reginia Hamilton and husband, Charlie of Hot Springs and Nancy Young and husband, Larry of Mt. Airy, NC; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Lindsay.
A memorial service will be held 12 p.m., at Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 1, 2020 with pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422 or Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, 81 Wilkinson Ave, Hot Springs, Va. 24445.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.obaughfuneralhome.com.
