WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Come read at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library in celebration of Families Read Nov. 18-27.
The theme for this year is Monsters.
The library staff is embracing the challenge of encouraging reading in our youngest patrons and their caregivers. A group of 4th grade White Sulphur Springs Elementary-after-school students will be getting a sneak preview of the theme “There Be Monsters”, as they create fun loving creatures using various art forms.
Kindergarten students in some of the Read Aloud programs are also listening to books about monsters. Even the Preschool Story Hour (Fridays at 10:30) is getting into the spirit of things with monster-themed books. Many of these monsters are friendly and quite lovable, think Elmo and the Cookie Monster.
Students may also come to the library any time during this period to complete a book scavenger hunt and win a prize.
Free bookmarks are also available and all overdue fines are waved during this time. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 10:30 am. to 12 noon when students are on Thanksgiving break, a craft activity, Creating a Monster Reading Buddy, will be held at the library.
Please join us for any of these activities. The White Sulphur Springs Library is open Monday – Friday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and from 12 until 4 on Saturdays. The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, for Thanksgiving, and will resume regular hours on Friday.
