CLIFTON FORGE — A one-day course for food industry employees to earn the ServSafe Certification for food safety will be held Monday, March 23, in Room 502, McCarthy Hall, on the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Clifton Forge campus, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The instructor is DSLCC Culinary Arts Program Head Ed McArdle.
This course is being offered in response to new Virginia Department of Health regulations that went into effect on July 1, 2018, requiring food establishments to have at least one employee with supervisory/management responsibility and the authority to direct/control food preparation and service to be a Certified Food Protection Manager.
Topics will include basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination, time and temperature, cleaning and sanitation. The certification exam will be given at the end of the class.
The tuition fee of $139 will include the book and the exam.
Students are asked to stop by the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus to pick up the book that is required reading and utilized for exam preparation.
For more information about the course, contact McArdle at (540) 261-3514 or email emcardle@dslcc.edu.
To register, contact DSLCC Workforce Solutions and Community Education at (540) 863-2899 or email rjennnings@dslcc.edu. Participants may also register online at www.dslcc.edu/workforce.
