LOW MOOR – Alleghany won the 2024-25 Alleghany Duals championship following an undefeated run where they defeated six other schools.

The duals were originally scheduled to feature 12 schools, however due to the weather and other related issues there were only nine teams at the event in Low Moor.

The Cougars cruised in victories over E.C. Glass (66-13), Roanoke Catholic (72-11), Hidden Valley (65-18), Pulaski County (58-21), Fort Defiance (53-26).

Alleghany’s toughest challenge was against Page County as they edged the Panthers 41-38.

Nick Powell and Kylan Tolley, each won gold medals, while Carter Nicely, David Osborne, Parker Osborne, and Zane George each won silver medal honors. Kirby Brown, Tristan Madison, Jayvon Myers, James Osborne, and Hayden Wills, each were recipients of the bronze medal.

It was a record day for Nicely, who had a 5-1 performance at the Alleghany Duals, while also recording his 100th career win during his match against Garry Norris from Hidden Valley.

Nicely is 22-1 overall on the season. He also lost his first match of the year during a decision against Landon Yoder from Fort Defiance.
