CLIFTON FORGE — The Clifton Forge Public Library is currently showcasing Clifton Forge’s Boy Scouts in its “Troop 2” display.  Featured is memorabilia from the private collection of LeeAnna Tyler.
LeeAnna and her husband, Todd, have been leaders with the Boy Scouts for over 25 years. They began the year their oldest son, Tony Angell, started in Cub Scouts with Pack 2 in Clifton Forge.
Tony earned his Eagle Scout Rank in 1998. That fall his younger brother, Travis, started as a Tiger in Pack 2. Travis earned his Eagle Scout Rank in 2007.  “Scouting has truly been a family affair,” LeeAnna said.
All of the family has been inducted into scouting’s honor society, the Order of the Arrow.
“We are both still very active in the OA,” LeeAnna added, “Todd as a chapter advisor and both of us serving on the cook crew for OA campouts.”
Travis has attended two National Jamborees, one as a Boy Scout and one as an assistant scoutmaster.  Todd served as a Scoutmaster at the inaugural Jamboree in 2013 at the Summit in West Virginia and LeeAnna served on the Specialty Catering team.
“The patches in the display depict many of the outings my family has been fortunate to attend,” LeeAnna said.  “A few of the patches are older patches we have been fortunate to obtain.”
The family has hundreds more patches that are not included in the display.  Many of the pictures belong to Troop 2 which has been chartered since 1912.
“Our family feels very fortunate to be involved in scouting,” she concluded.  “It is so heartwarming to see these young men and women grow up to become successful adults in our community. We have made many lifelong friends while seeing beautiful scenery and camping in all sorts of weather.”
The “Troop 2” exhibit will be on display at the Clifton Forge Public Library throughout March.
The library is located at 535 Church St.
