The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invites you to learn about “Community Heart & Soul” and its mission to find out what matters most to residents and the community.
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m., the Alleghany Highlands YMCA will host a “Community Introduction” and interactive program for area residents and members of the Alleghany Highlands community.
Any resident is welcome to attend this program and is invited to share thoughts from your own personal experiences of living in the Alleghany Highlands.
This will help officials identify the needs of the region through community input.
The goal of this program is to help the community become stronger, healthier and economically vibrant, while discovering and honoring the unique character of the Alleghany Highlands.
“The Community Heart & Soul initiative is a wonderful tool to help identify the needs of our community and to also bring the community together to create positive change based on what matters most to our residents,” said Teresa Hammond, executive director for the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. “Community Heart & Soul is a catalyst for positive change that provides a roadmap for small cities and towns to build a brighter future based on what matters most to everyone.”
“Community Heart & Soul works because the community works together to make it happen,” added Hammond.
Community Heart & Soul has devoted more than a decade working with areas to develop a community development model that empowers residents to shape the future of their communities.
“Community Heart & Soul fosters teamwork, engagement, and energy from within the community,” Hammond said.
