The Covington area Rise Against Hunger food packaging event will be held Saturday, Feb. 8.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church Family Life Center on Fudge Street in Covington.
Packaging is expected to take approximately two hours. The public is invited to participate.
Rise Against Hunger is a non-profit international hunger relief organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food and other aid to people in developing nations.
Volunteers who assist on Feb. 8 will scoop rice out of boxes and funnel the grains with soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix that includes 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal bags that are sealed for shipping throughout the world.
The bags, which have a shelf life of two years, can be easily stored and feed six people each. They are packed into larger boxes that are distributed to school feeding programs, orphanages and places in crisis.
Rise Against Hunger has a goal of ending world hunger by 2030.
