Chargers Lose In Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA — Parry McCluer finished the night on a 17-4 run.
It was enough to hold off the pesky Bath County Chargers.
Katie Claytor scored a game-high 19 points, leading the Fighting Blues to a 50-37 Pioneer District win over the Chargers.
Parry McCluer, who graduated nine seniors that won three straight state championships, led 26-16 at the half, but Bath outscored the hosts 14-6 in the third quarter.
Hannah Pritt nailed four treys and led the Chargers with 14 points. Gabrie Herscher added 11 points, five assists, four rebounds, a steal, a block and five deflections.
Emily Douglas had six points and five rebounds.
Anna Claytor added 12 points for the Blues, while Maddie Henson scored 11.
The Parry McCluer roster is made up entirely of freshmen and sophomores.
The Chargers (0-1) are back on the floor tonight in their home opener against Roanoke Catholic.
Parry McCluer was a 40-24 winner in Monday’s JV game.
