WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Johnson Kearney of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Libby was born August 15, 1931 in Marlinton, W.Va., to the late Alva Arthur and Ethel Virginia Waugh Johnson.
She was a hair dresser for over 50 years and owner of Libby’s Beauty Bar until illness forced her into retirement.
She leaves behind many friends and former clients.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Kearney; three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by a son, Richard Lynn (Rick) Corbett; daughter in law, Marcia Goodwin Corbett and beloved grandson, Jeffry Thomas Corbett of Claysville, Pa. Additional survivors are a brother, Page W. Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla., and a sister, Jean C. Mason and her husband, “Spurge” of Frankfort, Ky. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be Sunday, April 11 from 1 until 3 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted immediately after the visitation at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Elizabeth Kearney to the American Cancer Society.
