NEW CASTLE – The Bath County girls basketball team remained unbeaten in Pioneer District play with a 51-22 Pioneer District win over Craig County Thursday night.
The Chargers jumped out to a 30-8 at the half after holding the Rockets to just eight points in both the first and second quarters.
Allison Sharp led a balanced Bath County attack with 11 points, while Angela Herscher also reached double figures with 10 points. Hannah Robertson just missed double digits, finishing with nine points.
Christine Surface led the Rockets with a game-high 12 points.
“We knew our press would give them problems and help out our transition game a lot,” said Bath County coach Keith Lindsay, who saw his team improve to 12-3 on the year and 6-0 in Pioneer District play. “We knew they lacked depth and we wanted to wear them down.
“Hannah (Robertson) had a great game on both ends of the floor tonight,” added Lindsay. “I was pleased with our overall effort since we haven’t touched a basketball in over a week.”
Bath County will be back in action Monday when they host James River.
Action starts at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity game.
