Benjamin Hoover “Benny” Hubbard, 80, of 5900 Dunlap Creek Road, died Monday morning, March 8, 2010, in Alleghany Regional Hospital.
Mr. Hubbard was born November 9, 1929 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Elliott H. and Dovie Susan Hepler Hubbard. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Hubbard and two sisters, Halsie Hubbard and Patsy Mapp.
He had retired in 1992 from MeadWestvaco after 38 years with the company. Benny was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church and the Stack Mine Hunt Club.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Sue Miller Hubbard of Covington; his son, Benny H. Hubbard Jr. and his wife, Terry, of Richmond; six daughters, Belinda Conley of Gordonsville, Cindy Powell of Covington, Sonia Bocook and her husband, Squeaky, of Richmond, Lisa Hubbard-Mosby and her husband, Thomas Mosby, of Richmond, Tina Worley and her husband, David, of Hanover and Martha Reynolds and her husband, Billy, of Covington; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Nicely officiating.
Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Benny Hubbard Jr., Ethan Hubbard, Heath Hubbard, Jeremy Powell, Josh Powell, Adam Worley, Donnie Via and Cole Entsminger.
Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends for one hour prior to service time at Arritt Funeral Home.
