MILLBORO - Peacefully departing this life Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, Robert (Bob) Camm Campbell IV, 69, of 4522 Westminster Road, Millboro, will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.
He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Richmond, the son of the late Robert Camm Campbell III, and the late Anne Snead Campbell.
He spent his life in the call to his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1963-1969; and the call to his work as a laboratory specialist, instructor, and director. He had a love for photography, painting, movies, and the outdoors. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Lynchburg College and a Master’s Degree in Pathology from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He was director of the Clinical Laboratory, Warren Memorial Hospital, Valley Health System, from November 1977 to his retirement in August of 2002. In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the Front Royal/Warren County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1999 – 2003, the USAF Epidemiology Laboratory Brooks AFB, San Antonio, Texas
He is survived by his loving daughter, Heather Ann Campbell, of Richmond; a former wife, Yvonne B. Campbell of Richmond; as well as a brother, Andrew Campbell and his wife, Deborah, of Roanoke and their three children, Joshua, Erin, and Adam. He leaves many kind and dear relatives in several regions of the country. His fond and loving Bath County friends will miss him as well as his many friends in Front Royal.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs. A funeral and graveside service will be conducted at Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 2 pm.
