RICHMOND (AP) – Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says his lawsuit challenging the Obama administration’s health care reform package isn’t costing taxpayers much.
So far, Cuccinelli says he’s only spent the $350 fee for filing the suit in federal court. Cuccinelli says he expects the cost to remain low since his staff is handling the litigation and there shouldn’t be big expenses such as expert witness fees.
Cuccinelli estimated Tuesday that winning the suit, on the other hand, will save taxpayers about $1.1 billion.
Cuccinelli’s lawsuit is backed by Gov. Bob McDonnell, a fellow Republican. More than a dozen other states are challenging the law as well.
