Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Judy Campbell Payne of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Kathy Rohr and husband, Chris, of Clifton Forge, Kim Payne of Clifton Forge, and Tina Payne and Lisa Maynard, of Covington; a son, Donnie Payne and friend, Kristie Bragg, of Clifton Forge; a brother, Richard Payne and wife, Joyce, of Summersville, W.Va; eight grandchildren, Dakota Dean, Alex Dean, Isabella Dean, Emmalee Dean, Kailynn Dean, and Sidney Swain, all who made their home with their Paw-Paw and were his pride and joy, Susan Payne of Clifton Forge, and Kelly Payne of Greensboro, N.C.; a great-grandson, Damien Payne of Clifton Forge; a special sister-in-law, Zernie Campbell, of Clifton Forge and a special friend, Ethel Adams, whom he called his daughter, of Clifton Forge.

According to Donald’s wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Martin Garrett and the Rev. Gordon Hammond officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times, at the residence of Kim Payne, 709 Rose Ave., Clifton Forge.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Alleghany Highlands Division, in care of Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Blvd., Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.
