STANLEYTOWN (AP) – Stanley Furniture is laying off 190 workers at its Stanleytown plant over the next two months.
The layoffs announced Tuesday include 150 hourly and 40 temporary workers.
Stanley President and Chief Operating Officer Glenn Prillaman attributed the layoffs to the economy. But he says the furniture maker has no plans to move production overseas.
The cuts will leave about 750 Stanley employees in the Martinsville area.
