Fred Jacobs

MONROE, NC Fred George Jacobs, 87, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010.

He was born in Scotland County, N.C., Jan. 26, 1923, a son of the late George and Ida Dow Jacobs.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from R.C. Etters Insurance Agency.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sylvia (Connie) Jenkins Jacobs of Monroe; son, Dan Jacobs and wife, Ann of WeddingtonN.C.; daughters, Linda Hope and husband, Chris, of Monroe and Teresa Klemmer and husband, John, of Covington; sister, Marise Kinsey of Dallas, N.C.; grandchildren, Chip Hope of Monroe; Carrie Hargett of Wesley Chapel, N.C., Jeff Clemmer of Staunton, Jennifer Ellis of Covington, Melissa Schacher of Monroe, and Danny Jacobs of Mount Holly; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be conducted March 21.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.C. 28215-3220.
