CLIFTON FORGE - Gladys Bernice Knick Reid, 76, of 4611 Eden Dr., Roanoke, and formerly of 3907 Forty-Two Road, Clifton Forge died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in Roanoke.
She was born in Clifton Forge, June 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Lawrence Letcher Knick and Nannie France Knick.
She attended Lone Star Advent Christian Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Glenn Reid Sr. in September of 1999; three daughters, Christine Reynolds, Kathleen Campbell, Tara Agnor; a son, Roy L. Reid; a sister, Elizabeth Ayers; two brothers, Harold Knick and Elwood Knick; and one grandchild.
She is survived by four daughters, Wanda VanDevender and husband Donald of Iron Gate, Nannie Foscoe and husband Frank of Clifton Forge, Lesia Reid of Roanoke, and Charlotte Curtis of Clifton Forge; a son, Virgil G. Reid Jr. of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Vivian Clark of Selma and Clara Dudley and her husband, Oler of Selma; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dorothy Helmintoller.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Doug Moore officiating. A private interment will take place in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home following the service.
