Bernice “Tootie” Gochenour, 89, of 1212 Alleghany Ave., Iron Gate Hill, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at her residence.
She was the widow of the late Alexander Graham Gochenour.
Mrs. Gochenour was born June 10, 1920, in Covington, the daughter of the late Robert Marshall Loving and Bernice King Loving.
She was a graduate of Covington High School and the C&O Nursing School, Class of 1942. Mrs. Gochenour was a nurse. She worked at The Greenbrier Clinic, Alleghany Memorial Hospital, the C&O Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital. She retired from Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church.
Mrs. Gochenour is survived by a son, A.G. “Buster” Gochenour and wife, JoAnna, of Bent Mountain; a daughter, Kathy G. Bryant and husband, Glen, of Iron Gate; a sister-in-law, Bettie Harter Loving of Covington; a special caregiver, Debbie Rocha; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gochenour was preceded in death by three brothers. James Patton “Jimmy” Loving Sr., Robert Marshall Loving Jr., and Tommy King Loving; and two sisters, Edith Loving Leitch and Frances Loving Lawson.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Loving Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C. Thomas McHenry officiating. Interment will follow in Iron Gate Hill Cemetery on the Gochenour Farm.
The family will receive friends Sunday at Loving Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1212 Alleghany Ave., Iron Gate Hill.
