Raymond Edward McCoy
Raymond Edward McCoy, age 86, of 403 Center Court, Covington, Virginia died on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.
Ray was born on March 30, 1938 in Staunton, Virginia to the late Clarence Raymond and Hazel Virginia Thompson McCoy Cook. He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired timekeeper for Westvaco. He was a member of the Clifton Forge B.P.O.E. Lodge 1683 and loved UVA sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McCoy Adcock.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Clark McCoy of Covington; three daughters, Lynn McCoy Bailey and husband Barry of Opelika, AL, Diane McCoy Buchanan and husband Buddy of Glen Wilton, and Elaina McCoy Humphries and husband Zach of Covington; a sister, Carolyn McCoy Hayslett of Clifton Forge; a brother, Cecil McCoy and wife Becky of Jarrett, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Rd, Covington, VA 24426.
