COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio State University says a gunman opened fire at a maintenance building, killing one employee and wounding another. The suspect also was wounded and is in custody.
No students were injured in the shooting early Tuesday, and the school said classes would be held as scheduled.
University Police Chief Paul Denton says one worker is hospitalized in critical condition and another is in stable condition. A third employee was pronounced dead at the scene.
The university says in a statement that the shooting involved its Facilities, Operations, and Development department and indicated the suspect was one of the people wounded, but it did not say which one. A spokeman declined further comment.
Denton says investigators are trying to determine a motive.
