BATH COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Wednesday, (Nov 27) at 2:40 p.m. on Route 39, three tenths of a mile east of Route 643 in Bath County.
A 2004 Ford F-250 was traveling east on Route 39, when the ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected crossing the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver was identified as Chase Benten Killingsworth, 39, of Craigsville, Va. Mr. Killingsworth was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.
Speed was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
