Mrs. Jessie Mann Spurlock, 92, of Richmond and formerly of Covington, died May 13, 2010 in Richmond.
She was born February 25, 1918 in Covington, a daughter of the late Walter I. and Artiff Bibby Mann.
Mrs. Spurlock attended Watson High School.
She was a lifetime member of Pine Street Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess and in recent years as Mother of the Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spurlock was preceded in death by her husband, George Preston Spurlock Jr.; a sister, Dr, Laura M. Hines; a son-in-law, James Y. Randolph Jr.; and a grandson, James Y. Randolph III.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, George P. Spurlock III and his wife, Barbie; a daughter, Claudette Cark and her husband, William; one brother, Walter Irving Mann and his wife, Marion; grandchildren, Javette and Mirzah Uddin and Jill and Thurston Watson, Nicholas Spurlock, George Spurlock, Danielle Spurlock and Shanda Spurlock; great-grandchildren, Summayyah Uddin; Hebah Uddin and Sahnoon Uddin, Tyler Watson and Ashlie Watson and a host of friends , relatives, neighbors and her beloved Pine Street Baptist Church family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas S. Simmons officiating.
The interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
