Carpentry students at Jackson River Technical Center assisted the Alleghany Highlands Christmas Mother this year by making handcrafted wood items. The donated items will help ensure that children in the Highlands receive a Christmas gift. JRTC carpentry instructor Charles Fornwalt said the annual Christmas Mother project provides his students with hands-on learning while teaching them to live responsibly by giving back to their community. Students involved in the project recently gathered for a photograph before presenting the gifts to Christmas Mother Ingrid Barber.
