The Virginian Review is teaming up with the Alleghany Highlands Christmas Mother to collect lap blankets for those in need this holiday season.
Readers are encouraged to donate new lap blankets which will be distributed to individuals and families through the Christmas Mother program. Donations can be dropped off at the Virginian Review office at 229 W. Main Street during regular business hours.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Christmas Mother to help brighten the holidays for those in need,” said Carla Bowles, of the Virginian Review. “A simple lap blanket can provide comfort and warmth, and we’re hoping the community will come together to make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
In addition to lap blankets, the program is always in need of other contributions such as new toys and monetary donations. Recently, the Christmas Mother also expressed a need for AA and AAA batteries. Any of these items can be dropped off at the Virginian Review office, as well.
The Virginian Review’s collection drive will continue through Monday, Nov. 25.
