CHESTERFIELD – Naomi “Nonie” Hardy Lowden, 80, died Satruday, February 6, 2010 at the Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, where she had been a patient since early 2006.
Prior to her confinement, she had been ill for a number of years.
Nonie was a licensed beautician who operated a beauty shop in her home in Winchester until a move was made to Williamsburg in the early 1970s. As a resident of Williamsburg, Covington and Richmond, she was active in garden clubs and choral church music. She enjoyed ceramics and refinishing antique furniture. Nonie was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and last attended services at River Road Presbyterian Church in Richmond.
Mrs. Lowden was born October 8, 1929 in Bunker Hill, W.Va., the only child of Mitchell Charles and Maude Aiken Hardy.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jay H. Lowden Jr.; her daughter, Kim L. Brown and her husband, Arnold; and grandsons Hunter Baylis and Bryce, all of Richmond; her son, Jayson and Barbara Lowden of Covington.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Nonie’s name to the Lucy Corr Foundation, P.O. Box 170, Chesterfield, Va. 23832-0170.
