The Alleghany jayvee baseball team picked up an 11-1 six-inning win over Glenvar Thursday at Mountaineer Field.
Alex Javins got the win on the mound for Alleghany, pitching five innings of three-hit ball. Javins struck out seven and walked one.
Kendall Kessinger pitched the sixth inning in relief and allowed one unearned run on two hits and struck out one batter.
“Alex did a great job on the mound,” said Alleghany coach Derek Cantrell. “He did a terrific job of staying ahead of hitters.”
Kessinger, Ethan Nicely, Darin Buckner and Dalton Unroe led the Mountaineers with two hits each, while Jonathan Brown, Derek O’Connor, Javins, Trent Rust, Mark Hendricks and Christian Vess had one hit each.
Alleghany will be back in action Monday when they play host to the Covington junior varsity. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
