The Clifton Forge Little League 2010 season kicked off with an introduction ceremony where the 325 children in the Little League program marched out in the infield and were introduced to the proud parents and friends at the opening ceremony Saturday at Linden Park.
The Little League also has 200 volunteers that give their time as volunteers.
The teams will play over a combined 400 baseball and softball games this spring and feature teams from Bath, highland, Giles, Montgomery, Rockbridge, Greenbrier and Roanoke counties.
As well as Covington, Roanoke, Pembroke, Buena Vista, Blacksburg and other surrounding areas spending time and money in Clifton Forge.
Gary Price, president of the Little League, said, “Most of all, the Little League provides the children an young adults a knowledge of the game of baseball and softball, and knowledge of safety, security and well being and gives them a sense of pride and ownership in our community in hopes they will grow up to be productive citizens and future leaders in our communities.” (Buck Rumpf Photo)
