HOT SPRINGS - Carrie Vivian Jenkins, 100, of Stuarts Draft, and formerly of Mountain Grove, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Kings Daughter Assisted Living in Staunton.
Mrs. Jenkins was born March 7, 1910 in Nettie, W.Va., the daughter of the late Lee Cole and Russie Childress Cole.
She was married to Kennerson Henderson Jenkins, who preceded her in death in January 1958.
She was formerly employed with Bacova Guild. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and quilting. She was a member of Huntersville Baptist Church in Huntersville, W.Va.
She is survived by a son, Thurmond L. and Betty Jenkins of Stuarts Draft; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and John Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Donna, Jim, Debbie, Denise, Pamela, T.J., Rhonda, Beth, Rachel and Ricky; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Odell of Nettie, W.Va.; a foster child, Pat Pike of Jacksonville, N.C.; and a son-in-law, Hubert Leary of Phoenix, Ariz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannette Leary; two brothers, Charles Cole and Junior Cole; and two sisters, Madeline Fields and Bessie Orsborne.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Cochran officiating. Interment will be in Fields Cemetery, Nettie, W.Va.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Martin, Benjamin Martin, Danny Dressler, T.J. Jenkins, Danny Odell and Gayle Odell.
The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
