On Friday, Jan. 8, the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a residence in the 100 block of E. Cherry Street in Covington.
The search warrant was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation conducted by the Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force.
According to Covington Police Chief J.B. Broughman, officers seized drugs, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, cocaine, U.S. currency and three vehicles.
The Alleghany County and Covington Special response Teams along with patrol officers from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and the Covington Police Department assisted with the search.
The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force consists of officers from the Virginia State Police, the Bath, Highland and Alleghany sheriff’s offices, and the Clifton Forge and Covington police departments.
The incident remains under investigation.
