Ann Horton Rickett
Eva Ann Horton Rickett, 94 of 111 S. Craig Avenue died Thursday, October 17, 2024 at her residence.
Ann was born June 14, 1930 in Covington, the first child of the late Thomas Edward and Watson Kelley Horton. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She enjoyed going to Young at Heart and mingling with everyone. Ann graduated from
Covington High School in 1947. She was a homemaker most of her life and was happiest when surrounded by her loving family. She adored her grandchildren and loved being around them throughout their growing up years. In her later years, she was blessed with six precious great-great
grandchildren who brought her more joy and happiness. Two of her favorite pastimes were reading and watching Jeopardy.
Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, the late Leonard Rickett, Jr. in 2001; a brother, Eddie Horton; a sister, Frances (Frankie) Besser; a son-in-law, Buddy Erwin; three nieces, Kathy Begay, Linda Darnell and Marsha Wilson; two nephews, Joe Weber and Kelly Champion.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly R. and Dave Pack; two sons and daughters-in-law, Len and Christy Rickett and Gary and Melanie Rickett; four grandchildren, Neil Rickett and his wife Elisa, Jacob Rickett and wife Codi; Brittany R. Johnson and husband Andrew and Katie R. Brigham and husband Alex; three great granddaughters, Edith and Margaret Rickett and Hadley Johnson and three great grandsons, Tanner Johnson, Nathaniel Brigham and Campton Rickett. Also, surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Reba H. and Thomas Champion; sister-in-law, Loretta K. Horton and her loving and supportive neighbors, Norma and Butch Curtin, all her church friends, her special young friends, Callie and Kinley Uzzell and her devoted helper and friend, Cathy Logsdon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with Ms. Rickett’s arrangements.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Rev. John Ballard officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Hartsfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family suggest that Memorial contributions in Ms. Rickett’s name be made to the Building or Scholarship Fund at Temple Baptist Church, 300 Stratton Street, Covington, VA.
