CLIFTON FORGE - Alice Haney Phillips Burger, 88, of The Springs Nursing Home, Hot Springs, and formerly of 508 Commercial Ave., Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at The Springs.
She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Clifton Forge to the late Charles and Mary Hostetter Phillips.
Mrs. Burger was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland T. Burger Jr. in 19906; and a brother, Sylvester Phillips.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Burger and wife, Carol, of Hot Springs and Robert Burger and wife, Amy, of Hampton; a sister, Stella Campbell of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Lillian Phillips of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, Charles Burger Jr. of Hot Springs, Samantha Keyser of Hot Springs, Benjamin Burger of Hot Springs and Robert Burger Jr. of Hampton; a great-grandchild, Chandler Keyser; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Butch Campbell of Clifton Forge.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Rev. Paul Brokaw officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
