Bland County, VA- The Bath County Chargers have looked nothing short of stellar in their first four games of the season. On both sides of the ball, they have been pretty much unstoppable. The offensive line has owned the line of scrimmage in each outing, creating huge holes in the opposing defensive fronts and opening running lanes easily accessible for quarterback Wyatt Campbell and running back Ethan Bryant. Campbell has also enjoyed a mostly clear pocket to throw out of thanks to his men in the trenches managing every defensive front thrown at them thus far. The Charger’s defense has equally looked just as impressive anchored by linebacker Braiden (Buddha) Mabe.

Bath’s defense has only allowed an astonishing 18 points throughout the five games played so far. The line has owned the battle upfront allowing extraordinarily little yardage running up the middle and no quarterback has gotten comfortable enough to throw accurately. The first five games have been a show owned and operated by the Chargers.

This past Thursday night in Bland County would be no different.

Coming off of a two-week break, any concerns about the Chargers being rusty were quickly put to rest after on the opening play after kicking off when Braiden Mabe found his way into the backfield recovering a fumble he’d created and taking it to the house for games first six points of the night.

After kicking off and going for two yards on their first couple of plays, Mabe almost repeated his earlier performance by breaking into the backfield and taking a caused fumble into the end zone again. Fortunately for Bland, a holding call on the Chargers after the fumble canceled the score and gave Bath the ball on the 40-yard line.

After a first down pass to Luke Turner and an 18-yard run by Ethan Bryant, an eight yard pass from Wyatt the superman Campbell found who else but Braiden “nothing but money” Mabe in the endzone putting the Chargers up by two touchdowns early in the first quarter.

After the kickoff, Bland could not get anything going running the ball. On third-and-11, the Bears pass was intercepted by Cambell before being run back to the place he knows best for a Bath County touchdown. Bland found a small burst of success on their next drive, breaking free on a couple of runs for 21 and then 14 yards. They then found themselves in a fourth-and-6 situation. Bland decided to go for it but would regret that decision because Buddha Mabe broke free and sacked their quarterback for a 15-yard loss turning the ball over on downs and giving Bath excellent field position.

Two plays later, Luke Turner found room to run and took it in for another Bath County touchdown making it 29-0. The rest of the game would mostly be the same as Bath County went on to win 63-0.

Next week the Chargers start the district opponent section of their season as they face off at home against the Mustangs of Eastern Montgomery. The kickoff is at seven o’clock. Leave early because the stands have been filling up fast, come out and cheer on your Bath County Chargers.
