LOW MOOR – Ever since Alleghany’s volleyball team finished second at the James River Invitational a few weeks ago, the Cougars have been rolling, winning four in a row following a straight set victory this past Thursday over Carroll County in Low Moor winning 25-15, 26-24, 25-21.
 
Senior Kaiya Lian led the team with 14 kills, four aces, and 14 digs. Senior Bryce Leitch had a team-high 19 digs, while sophomore Kendra Dressler dished out 23 assists.
 
The win over the Cavaliers was a bounce back victory after the Cavs beat the Cougars in four sets on September 10th in Hillsville.
 
Along with a straight set win over Carroll County on Thursday, during their four match win streak, Alleghany has been dominant with wins over Glenvar, Wilson Memorial, and Floyd County. All four wins have been straight set victories.
 
Thursday’s win improved Alleghany to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in the Three Rivers District. 
 
Alleghany is on the road on Tuesday against James River in a district contest.
 
Previous matches;
 
September 30th, Alleghany defeated Floyd County 25-8, 25-7, 25-10.
 
Lian had a team-high 12 kills and three aces, while Leitch had seven kills and four aces, and Dressler and junior Hannah Hensley each had six digs. Dressler also put together a 25 assist performance.
 
September 28th, Alleghany defeated Wilson Memorial 25-21, 25-21, 25=18.
 
Lian led the way once again with 14 kills and 10 digs. Leitch had a team-high 16 digs, eight kills, and a pair of blocks. Senior Laken Tingler added seven kills, while Jayahna Hughes had nine digs. Dressler also had 29 assists for the winning Cougars.
 
September 26th, Alleghany defeated Glenvar 25-15, 25-8, 25-10.
 
Dressler had team-highs in assists with 33 and in aces with nine. Lian had a 14 kill, nine digs performance, while Tingler had eight kills and Hensley added seven.

Alleghany 5-1, 15-3
Radford 5-1, 6-4
Carroll County 4-2, 7-7
James River 4-3, 11-6
Glenvar 2-4, 5-8
Patrick County 2-4, 9-4
Floyd County 0-7, 4-11
