Alberta Lillie Prescod, of 241 Pinehurst Heights, Hot Springs, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Prescod was born in Bath County, a daughter of the late Rucker James and Mayso Kent Cardwell.

She was a former employee from the Homestead Inc. for over 35 years. She was a member and was very active in the Covington Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Prescod was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Prescod.

Surviving are three sisters, Bertha Debril of Richmond, Wanda Cardwell of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Neavis Martin of Harrisburg; five brothers, Albert Cardwell of Hot Springs, Donald Cardwell and his wife Susan of Hot Springs, Rucker Cardwell and his wife Elizabeth of Covington, Buddy Cardwell of Hot Springs and James Cardwell of Richmond; one Aunt, Cora Pegram of Hot Springs; special daughter, LaShonda Debril of Richmond; a special friend, Holly Peck of Mount Vernon, Wash. and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with Sid Frye officiating.

The interment will follow in Pinehurst Cemetery in Bath County.

The pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.

The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time at Arritt Funeral Home.
