Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, has collected and delivered more than 220 million shoebox gifts to children in over 170 countries and territories as an expression of God’s love. Many of these children are living in poverty stricken or war torn areas of the world. Last year, the Western Virginia collected more than 14,000 shoeboxes for distribution by Operation Christmas Child–a new record for our area.
This year, the collection week will take place November 18-25 with Covington’s drop off at Covington Bible Church. Hours of operation will be: November 18-22 (6-8 PM) November 23 (11-1 PM) November 24 (1-3 PM) November 25 (8-10 AM)
This Sunday, October 6 at 10:30 a.m. Covington Bible Church, 2140 S. Carpenter Drive, will host Debbie Alt Harvey, a former Covington resident, who will share about her recent opportunity to distribute shoeboxes to children in Africa.
The public is welcome to attend.
